As a Christian, you hold certain values close to your heart. Christian drug rehab will allow you to embrace strategies for recovery that also embrace your Christian beliefs.
Did you know that we have an enemy, and it is NOT GOD? How many times have you heard people say: “God caused a disease… or took a loved one…”? Or heard disasters described as “acts of God?” These common beliefs are misconceptions that create a lot of confusion because “you can’t fight God.”
The Christian’s handbook, the Bible provides insight into these beliefs. We must understand our handbook: 1. The Bible contains the Word of God. 2. It was not written in the order its list of chapters may suggest. 3. It is a “statement of truth” but not everything in the Bible is a “true statement.”
“Proverbs 4:1-11 Listen, … pay attention and gain understanding…. “Lay hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands and you will live. Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. … she will exalt you; … she will honor you. … accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.
Wisdom and understanding are important!
The physical world, or what we see, was created by supernatural, which we cannot see. Man is spirit, he has a soul (will, mind, emotions), and lives in a body. God created man in His image, with free will, and with the freedom of choice. The spirit man, is the ruler of the physical body and soul of man.
Genesis 2: God gave complete authority and mastery of the creation [earth] to Adam [who was spiritually alive]. God commanded [not suggested] Adam, not to eat [giving the consequences]: or else you will surely die. Adam made an informed decision and relinquished his spiritual authority to another spirit. The “original sin” caused Adam to die spiritually, it activated spiritual attacks on the soul, [mind, will, and emotions] and brought the physical death of his body.
The spirit world is the real world. 2 Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Example: We can see a tree, it has leaves, branches and a trunk. Its life comes from its roots, which we cannot see. Remove a limb and the tree will live, disconnect it from its roots and the tree will die. What we cannot see is the life force of what we can see. The roots in this context reflect the eternal (spiritual, unseen), and the tree represents the temporal (physical, seen).
Job1:1-22 Exposes our enemy. The first chapter of Job gives insight into the events that were occurring behind the scenes of this frequently quoted passage. (Job was written before Moses wrote Genesis the first book listed in the Bible.) Verse 21 says …The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; …. And while it is a true statement, Job did say this. This is not a statement of truth because Job had no revelation of Satan. God gave, but Satan took!
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Satan is not equal to God. He was created and has been conquered. Rev 12:9-10 says: The great dragon was hurled down–that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. John 8:44 says he was “… a murderer from the beginning, …there is no truth in him. … he is a liar and the father of lies.” And in John 10:10: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…. The place of contention with the enemy is the soul (mind, will, and emotions)!
Why do bad things happen to good people? Because spirit beings have a spiritual-unseen-enemy. Our ongoing struggle is not against other humans, but against spiritual entities, reflected in the underlying attitudes in an event, person or environment. This one spiritual truth (revelation) has the power to change our lives. Knowing God and recognizing your enemy moves life to a whole new playing field-one of victory!
